Story

This is the second duet on "THE FAME GAME" with the great Sarah Lauer Ayers.  "Mary Kate" is actually based on two different women--one from my high school years and one from my college years..I chose to make it about a pending high school reunion and the man wondering if his long lost love would be attending--and if she still feels anything. Within the song I give this lady the chance to echo her sentiments--and the listener learns that she is also fondly looking forward to seeing this man..but will he still care? One of my favorite tracks on the CD, and Scott Bradoka helps create the dreamscape sound I was seeking with his guitar echo.

Lyrics

                                                    MARY KATE

Should I go back again..back to that long ago..

Should I go back again to that memory

To subject myself to this reverie

I still can see her there..standing in the mist..

I still can feel the breeze and my buckling knees

As I drew her near for that winter kiss

CHORUS 1:

Does it feel like this, when you go to sleep

Is this just a dream a romantic scheme

That I'll play again without any end

Or should I let it go, fade into the past

Let this brief digression just float away

Like a summer day without Mary Kate

Lovely Mary Kate

Should I return again..back to my high school town..

Should I revisit feelings I thought were dead

Should I fill my heart with what's in my head

HALF CHORUS:

Or should I let it go, fade into the past

Let this brief digression just float away

Like a summer day without Mary Kate

Lovely Mary Kate...(lead guitar)

Sarah: Should I go back again to that memory

Jim: Should I go back again?

Sarah: I wonder will he be there?

Jim: Back to that long ago?

Sarah: I wonder could he still care?

Jim: Should I go back again to that memory

To subject myself to this reverie

CHORUS 1:

Does it feel like this, when you go to sleep

Is this just a dream a romantic scheme

That I'll play again without any end

Or should I let it go, (Sarah: Should I let it go?)

Fade into the past (Sarah: Fade into the past)

Let this brief digression just float away

Like a summer day without Mary Kate

Lovely Mary Kate...lovely Mary Kate

Sarah: After all of these years does he think of me?

Jim: After all of these years should I set her free?

Sarah: I wonder if he'll be there? I wonder will he still care?

I wonder if he'll be there? I wonder will he still care?

I wonder if he'll be there? I wonder will he still care?
