From the recording The Breakup Blues

Hey I won't lie to you--we all go through breakups and this was a song I really enjoyed writing--rather than soaking in my sorrows I chose this acerbic tongue-in-cheek blues romp to address my situation...and I think many can relate to it so play this one often when you're in the relationship doldrums!

Lyrics

THE BREAKUP BLUES

Tryin' to get myself signed get this girl off my mind
But nothin' works
Doin' all that I can, find an alternate plan
But nothin' works
So I drown my sorrows right from the bottle
Then I quote some Shakespeare and Aristotle
Few more sips and now I'm starting to waddle
I need to coddle...

But no one is there, why don't she care
We used to bare our souls truth or dare
But no one is there...

She used to be on my side, now I find that she lied
No she don't care
She used to sing all my songs, now she rights all my wrongs
No she don't care
There is nothing I can do that will please her
Even when I quote from Julius Caesar
Maybe I'll just try to tickle and tease her
Try to unfreeze her...

But she isn't there, why don't she care
We used to bare our souls truth or dare
But she isn't there

So I think I'll take a drive to Manhattan
Sing a verse or two from "Nights in White Satin"
All I know is I'm in no mood for chattin'
It's zero I'm battin'...

But she isn't there, why don't she care
We used to bare our souls truth or dare
But she isn't there (repeat a few times)
